Laura Mvula is back!

British soul singer and songwriter Laura Mvula from Birmingham released her debut album Sing to the Moon in 2013.

In March 2014, Mvula re-recorded an orchestral version of her debut album in collaboration with the Metropole Orkest and conducted by Jules Buckley.

Laura’s second album The Dreaming Room will be released in a few days… Ready for this??? June 17 2016!!!

Since hearing her back in 2013, I fell for her vibe. You might remember Green Garden? <3

Laura once mentioned that her influences include Lauryn Hill, Nina Simone, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.

Phenomenal Woman is the second song we’ve heard off Mvula’s upcoming album.

Check out the video, here!

Juliette Lewis has quite a voice on her!

Juliette Lewis became a talked about name back in 91′ after being in Martin Scorsese‘s remake of Cape Fear. Over the next few years, she landed roles in films such as From Dusk Till Dawn, Strange Days, Starsky & Hutch, Old School, The Basketball Diaries and more.

Apart from being a phenomenal actress, she’s got quite a voice on her!

She launched a band a few years back called Juliette and the Licks and released 3 CD’s during her time in the band, and in 2009, she went solo and brought out her solo album titled Terra Incognita.

You should never judge a book by it’s cover, and Juliette is a clear example of that saying! Intelligent, versatile, pretty, deep, talented… She’s got the whole packet!

Have a look and listen to Terra Incognita (one of me faves; Anthony Hopkins is featured in the video for a few seconds!)

Meet Virginia

Virginia is a DJ, singer, songwriter and producer. She’s been in the electronic music biz for over a decade now.

Born and raised in Munich, Germany, she started hanging out and moving around in the 90’s music scene and was Flokati’s resident DJ for some time (amongst other famous clubs in Germany).

I came across this tune and video the other day, and apart from the tune being very upbeat, I love how she DJ’d and sang like an absolute champ!

RESPECT!

Kendrick Lamar invites fan on stage at Sweetlife Festival

I think as a fan of any band or musician, to be invited up on stage to say hello or touch your “idols” hand sweat, you’d be more than grateful and ecstatic… But imagine if you were invited up on stage to sing your fave tune alongside your idol?!!!

Well, on Saturday night, Kendrick Lamar (you know, the guy that introduced us to the famous song and even more famous phrase Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe) performed at Sweetlife Festival in Maryland and invited a fan on stage to sing with him… His only condition was: “You gotta know every single mother f*ckin’ word to m.A.A.d City if I bring you on the stage… Do anybody wanna come up here and rap m.A.A.d city, I’m just asking?”

I don’t want to tell you what happened, but all I can say (in the wise words of Aretha) is RESPECT!
