Burning Man: The Musical (a little insight into one of the most recognized music festivals in the world)

Burning Man is a music festival that takes place in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, U.S.A.

The festival actually began in San Francisco in 1986 and was originally created to showcase contemporary Mexican electronic music… Things have a changed a little over the years though.

Burning Man lasts 7 days, and the concept of the whole festival is: a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance.

The festival begins on the 30th August – 7th September this year and the lineup includes DJ’s and artists such as: Maceo Plex, Rebolledo, Nu, Damian Romero, Lovefingers and more.

I personally have never been ( I definitely need to go and will go some day…), but I have met a few people here and there that have been and the whole experience sounds insane…. It’s very laid back, people exchange everything and anything for food, cleaning items, basically, anything, but the whole vibe is very much Peace and Love. You see the randomest outfits, performances, you can expect ANYTHING! That’s what I love about it… Totally out of the box, out of the ordinary….

Have a look at the video the BM crew got together, it’s a 5 minute short musical that shows and talks about the festival.

Damon Albarn and the rest of Africa Express sure pulled off quite a show last night in Denmark

Roskilde festival is one of the biggest music festivals in Europe; Denmark to be precise.

This year it took place from the 27th June – 4th July and people such as Paul McCartney, Florence + The Machine, Disclosure, Pharrell Williams, Muse, Die Antwoord, Hot Chip, Jamie XX, Mastodon, Nicki Minaj, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Ryan Adams, St Vincent, Foxygen and Africa Express (Damon Albarn’s collective featuring Nick Zinner from the YYY’s, Seye Adeklan and Songhoy Blues) performed in the Kingdom of Denmark.

Africa Express performed a 5 hour set, yes you read correctly, FIVE HOURS, finishing at 4am against Damon Albarn’s will – a security guard came on stage and literally picked up Damon and took him off stage! It was in a friendly way, so nothing to worry about… Albarn looked like he was having a blast and was living it up.

Kendrick Lamar invites fan on stage at Sweetlife Festival

I think as a fan of any band or musician, to be invited up on stage to say hello or touch your “idols” hand sweat, you’d be more than grateful and ecstatic… But imagine if you were invited up on stage to sing your fave tune alongside your idol?!!!

Well, on Saturday night, Kendrick Lamar (you know, the guy that introduced us to the famous song and even more famous phrase Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe) performed at Sweetlife Festival in Maryland and invited a fan on stage to sing with him… His only condition was: “You gotta know every single mother f*ckin’ word to m.A.A.d City if I bring you on the stage… Do anybody wanna come up here and rap m.A.A.d city, I’m just asking?”

I don’t want to tell you what happened, but all I can say (in the wise words of Aretha) is RESPECT!

Woodstock album cover couple are still together

The couple from the Woodstock album cover are still together, over 45 years later!

Woodstock is the famous music festival that took place on August 15th, 16th and 17th 1969 in Bethel, New York.

The still to this day highly spoken about 3 day music festival is known as one of the 50 moments that changed the history of Rock and Roll.

A few of the acts to perform were, Joan Baez (who was 6 months preggers at the time), Bert Sommer, Grateful Dead, Santana, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sly & The Family Stone, The Who, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and a bunch more.

This is the Woodstock album cover:

And this is the couple today!

Eddie Vedder covers Imagine at Super Bock Super Rock

Eddie Vedder – one of my favourite artists in THE world – covered John Lennon‘s Imagine at Super Bock Super Rock, a (rock) festival in Portugal on the 18th of July.

The song recently went viral and you can now buy the song on iTunes to support Heartbeat.fm, an organization that uses music to to foster peace between Israel and Palestine.
